Well, hello there!
Welcome to my website. All the art work on this site is created by me, Karen Fitzgibbon. All the paintings are original in acrylic, oil, and mixed media on canvas. I do both abstract and surrealism. I have been an artist for many some 40 years and moved from Vancouver to New Westminster, BC, Canada about two years ago.
Besides the works you see on here I also do large scale commissioned works on canvas. I have many more works that are not shown on this website but if you have a specific request then email me and I will show you works in that style if I have them.

Artist Statement
My creative moments come from my every day experiences good or bad on that roller-coaster that life has to offer. Thank God each day is different! I do abstract and surrealism. What I do in a day totally depends on my mood first thing in the morning, after my first cup of coffee. I admire the works of Kandinsky, Klee, and Salvidor Dali. My admiration is not just abstract and surrealism since Caravaggio's works in the classical form are magnificent.

BIOGRAPHY:
I'm a self-taught Canadian artist. I have been an artist for some 40 years. My paintings have been in galleries and exhibitions mostly in Canada, group shows, private large collections, and art auctions for charities. Calgary Stampede, AUCTIONS: The New York Firefighters Auction after 9/11, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Muttart Art Gallery - to support the gallery now the Alberta Art Gallery, Cambridge House Gala - Silent Auction to support the ALS Society and Alpine Canada. Donation: The Alberta Children's Hospital, Cowboys Art Auction - Calgary for the New York fire Fighters 2011. Shows: The River Market Art Show, The New Westminster Cultural Crawl, the New Westminster Library,The Big Four - Calgary Stampede, Eau Claire Market, and Take Ten just to name a few.
My local artist territories are Vancouver and New Westminster, BC, Canada. I will be doing plein air when the weather gets warmer. I like to go down to the River Market at the water's edge, False Creek, North and West Vancouver, English Bay by the Pacific Ocean, Stanley Park, Granville Island, Yaletown, up to Sunshine Coast and over to Vancouver Island. Both my abstract and surrealism tend to be strong, bold, bright colors or black and white. I have never been a pastel person.
All of my original works are signed and come with a letter of authenticity. I generally do large works on canvas, however you will see smaller works on this site but the smallest is 12"x16". Paintings are in oil, acrylic and mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas.
